Global warming is a phenomenon that has triggered many changes in all ecosystems on earth. The consequences are evident in variations in temperature, weather patterns, and environmental conditions. Like a tangled thread, the impacts of global warming are interrelated and affect various aspects of life. One of the most significant impacts is an increase in global average temperatures which results in the melting of polar ice. Melting ice will cause sea levels to rise, potentially destroying coastal habitats and small islands. These changes affect biodiversity, including species that are endemic to the region. Marine biota such as fish and marine mammals are at risk due to warming waters which increase temperatures and reduce the warming of the ice sheets that are their habitat. In addition, climate change due to global warming is disrupting animal migration patterns. Many bird species that normally migrate are now facing new challenges due to warmer seasons and changes in the timing of food availability. For example, shifting plant flowering times cause birds to arrive before food is available. This situation has the potential to reduce the population of certain species. Forests, as the lungs of the world, are also not immune from the effects of global warming. More frequent forest fires, facilitated by extreme drought, are impacting habitats as well as ecosystem sustainability. The smoke and pollutants produced from fires not only damage flora and fauna, but also add carbon dioxide levels to the atmosphere, worsening global warming in the future. Coral reef ecosystems are one of the worst victims. Continuous warming of seawater results in coral bleaching, which has a direct impact on the various types of fish and marine organisms that depend on them. Loss of coral reefs means loss of habitat that supports biodiversity, as well as disrupting the local fishing economy. Climate change is also contributing to the spread of invasive species that are able to survive in new, extreme conditions. These species can displace native species, triggering an imbalance that is detrimental to the ecosystem. As temperatures rise, many animal and plant species are forced to move to higher or colder areas, which often do not have sufficient resources to support these new populations. Furthermore, agricultural land is at risk while rainfall patterns are changing. Some regions may experience intense flooding, while others suffer from prolonged drought, both of which impact global food production. The morning that was supposed to be a fertile period now has to face new challenges, which threaten world food security. It is important to overcome the impacts of global warming with a variety of strategies, ranging from reducing greenhouse gas emissions, restoring habitat, to adaptive agricultural techniques. Through international collaboration and public awareness, we can reduce the negative impacts of global warming on ecosystems and ensure a more sustainable future.
